Transrail, while founded in 1994, became operative at the turn of the year 1995/96. The company was started in the light of the reorganisation of the rail sector in Sweden as well as in Europe. Our analysis was:

  • new players would need advice from experienced consultants,
  • old players would look for external expertise and innovative support to re-engineer their business, operation and systems,
  • an open competitive market would make foreign companies eager to enter the Swedish market.

Today, we see that our vision has come through at large, although perhaps slower than expected. We find many opportunities to support development of the railways in Sweden as well as in other countries.

One basis for the company has been to keep it small and fully independent. Thus, we rely on growth by our own.
