Railenergy is a research project within the EU R&D framework program. Transrail's part in the project is to manage a work package regarding energy efficient operation. This includes energy efficient driving and timetabling.
 Main responsible for EMR delivery of maintenance of passenger coaches
During a period of 6 months EMR needed assistance to manage their maintenance of SJAB fleet of 441 passenger coaches. At the same time an improvement program should be carried out. The work included daily issues as regards the maintenance at the workshops, various problems management and technical problems etc. Among other things an internet based IT-tool to manage and monitor the maintenance production was developed.

 Operational cost of future high-speed traffic in Sweden
The Swedish Railway Administration is doing a feasibility study on high-speed (250-320 km/h) passenger train services in Sweden, in particular the corridor Stockholm – Linköping – Jönköping - Gothenburg. As a part of this study, Transrail was contracted to do a calculation of the operational costs of such traffic. The study included all cost elements of the operation, in specific estimates on the investment and maintenance of suitable types of rolling stock.

A study on winter problems as regards high-speed passenger train services in the Nordic countries. The study was carried out as part of the BV research project "The green train". The main purpose of the study has been to complie primarily Scandinavian knowledge and experiences.

Participation in Keolis tender for the regional passenger services in Bergslagen (middle Sweden). Transrail made the staff schedules and traffic plans, rolling stock circulations and maintenance parts of the tender. Transrail also conducted a SWOT-analysis and a pre-study prior to the tender.

 Analysis of a new intermodal transport system for Rail Combi
Rail Combi (CargoNet), the main intermodal railway operator in Sweden, wanted to make a major change of their rail production scheme. Transrail analysed the planned train and wagon circulation, impacts on the wagon fleet and kilometre performance. Successfully solved using Transrail's TSDA tool with new software routines to minimise wagon empty runs.
 Eskisehir LRTS System Training
Following previous work on system design of the new Eskisehir Tramway (Turkey), Transrail was assigned by the supplier (Bombardier Transportation) to develop a course for system training of the operator's staff.
 Trains Resource Management System (TRMS)
IT-system for scheduling and management of vehicles and train staff. First customer was the private operator Tågkompaniet for their night train services to northern Sweden. Regularly used by Transrail in consulting projects, it is also for sale as a Transrail InfoSys product.
 Software tool to evaluate operational and maintenance statistics
During the first years of operation of the Arlanda Express, Transrail managed the reliability monitoring programme. Information on traffic and vehicle disturbances from drivers, the traffic control centre and the workshop was compiled in a database, enabling analysis of train and subsystem reliability, traffic consequences and maintenance actions.
 Software for the calculation of train crew payments
In 2000 the private operator Tågkompaniet took over the contract to operate the night-train services to the north of Sweden from SJ. Transrail was contracted by both parties for a taking over status review of the rolling stock (110 vehicles). Review instructions were developed, a team organised and the controls were carried out during a short time period.
